So, you got a bone fracture? Besides proper immobilization, during the first 6 weeks, nutrition is pretty important. Bone is basically minerals held together by protein chains. To make bone you need to keep ingesting adequate quantities of its ingredients throughout the healing period. Here is what you need to take:
- meals with a lot of protein and especially fish (best is Salmon)
- Specific amino acids of special importance include lysine, arginine, proline, glycine, cystine, and glutamine
- lycopene, and alpha-lipoic acid
- bioflavonoids and flavonols such as quercitin and proanthrocydins
- omega-3 fatty acids (fish oil)
- proteolytic enzymes such as bromalain and trypsin
- minerals: zinc, copper, calcium, phosphorus, silicon
- vitamins: C, D, E, K, B6
Good Luck!
